Comedian Rich Hall appears in standup at the Melksham Assembly Hall this evening.   Last time he appeared - in 2019 - he arrived by train and as I understand it our unwelcoming station was the butt of a few jokes.

This evening is a sell out - all 400 sold ... let's hope the train gets him here.

Given that the entire Transwilts service has been cancelled for the day, I would hope that he is coming by road this time!

(It might give him some more material though!!!)

Indeed.

Weather here looks fine to me, by the way, and road running sweetly

Please do not travel - No transport will be provided.

The convenience of giving the reason of "Severe Weather" is that it saves the train operator the bother of having to provide an alternative.  A fair weather railway at a time of more severe weather ...

The bus/coach drivers might not wish to drive in this weather (and they won't be local either - they're on school contracts)

See the last updates on the Swindon <-> Westbury thread for 2023 thread. Local buses are running as normal - just don't go to the stations, appear on rail journey planners and information, and refuse rail tickets if you manage to find the bus.
