At one point during our erstwhile moderator's hissy fit, he posted something which I just managed to catch at around 6pm this evening before Lee moved it to their secret hidey place.

It included a number of opinions expressed in private by some of the moderators of this board about certain posters in this forum, including one about me.

I can't remember precisely what they are alleged to have said about me, but it was something along the lines of:

Quote from: moderators
...can be a pain in the arse, sometimes

Having considered the matter carefully I have decided that this is a grave personal slur and I am extremely offended by it.

Next time, for flip's sake drop the 'sometimes', please. I have a reputation for curmudgeonlyness curmudgeonliness being a git to maintain which I have carefully built up over the years, and that extra word makes it sound as though I'm going soft in my old age.

That notwithstanding, Graham can write whatever he damn well pleases about me. It's his server and he's paying for it, and it's no business of mine - or anyone else's - what he gets up to with it.
Finally, here is a picture of my arse:

Graham Adds - I've searched for "arse" all through the forum and come up with a number of hits - but not the one TerminalJunkie mentions, nor anything that looked like a corruption of this. The word HAS been used a number of times, including in the thread that was posted to almost every board and in conjunction with SDO (Selective Door Opening), with Looe Park and Ride and other things.  I'm wondering if the original might have come from a personal message to / from the poster you refer to, but I am chairy of offering that as a solution to the mystery.

Any opinions made on this forum are purely personal and my own.  I am in no way speaking for, or offering the views of First Great Western or First Group.

If my employer feels I have broken any aspect of the Social Media Policy, please PM me immediately, so I can rectify without delay.

Strictly speaking the image is leeched from www.takeforum.com, which isn't particularly good "netiquette" and on some forums is very much frowned on.  Grahame doesn't lay down hard and fast rules about such things around here, but it's worth bearing in mind - some places will automatically replace the image with a notice about theft, so while you think you are posting a picture of a fluffy kitten (for example) what others will actually see is a defamatory picture about bandwidth stealing. Anyone keen to see an example in action is welcome to PM me offline and I'll willingly point them towards "live" examples (not all of which are safe for family viewing!)

As for the comment above allegedly quoting something said by certain moderators behind the scenes, I'm not pretending I'm party to everything that goes on, but I have to say I have never once seen any individual (or indeed group of people) referred to in such a defamatory way in my time on here - despite some quite often serious provocation, decorum has prevailed to a remarkable extent both front of house and backstage.

I'm a little bit outside of the moderation mainstream myself on this particular forum, having been invited here to do a specific job, and therefore feel I can honestly say a harder working and more genuinely decent bunch of individuals you'd be hard pressed to find. People would do well to treasure that - you don't always appreciate what you have until it's gone, as many others who, like myself, travelled the pre-Beeching railway network extensively will no doubt tell you.

Unless, of course, one has taken the trouble to ascertain whether one has permission to use the aforementioned images in the way that one did. One has, before anyone asks...

Don't worry, I never thought what Conner posted was anything other than the deranged wibbling of someone desperately thrashing about trying to cause trouble. I paid precisely the same level of attention to it as I did to virtually everything else he wrote, which was as near to zero as makes no odds.

And even if I thought it was true, I wouldn't have cared anyway. I've been called much worse!  Cool
On a more positive note, Conner's spelling has improved recently...

Fair play to you, TM(resolve) mate. And top marks too for the use of the phrase "deranged wibbling", heh
