But not for pedestrians unless you take your life in your hands and walk in the narrow lanes wide enough for one bus.
Pedestrians still have to go up and round Wheatridge Lane.

Still not open for pedestrians and someone was walking in the road so traffic had to slow to a crawl.

Update. Pedestrian footpath has opened on the North side. Previous footpath on South side closed. Two narrow lanes at 10mph for cars and buses. One lane at night. Been at it for nearly 11 months with no end in sight.

Is it the longest short bridge replacement in the world?

Road resurfaced and fully opened over last weekend and 10mph speed limit for motor cars etc lifted.. Some minor snagging still being done.

In the 1950s I lived very close by and though there was seldom cause for my family to use the original bridge we frequently joined Torbay Road from Wheatridge Lane. In those days Torbay Road had a pleasant pink tinge to it, but when I was back down that way 25 years ago it had been replaced with black tarmac.

The bridge stonework still not finished. Tool container still on site. Stonework left half finished.
