Following government guidance this evening which places further restrictions on non-essential travel we can confirm that service levels will remain at previously advertised schedules, available to view here - http://www.faresaver.co.uk/newsitem.php?i=9462804

However today the number of passengers we carried was 15% of the level we would expect on a normal Monday. We expect this to drop further from tomorrow with the latest announcement. Without any direct support for bus companies forthcoming from the government to sustain service levels we will have no option but to review timetables over the coming days to reflect the number of passengers using each service. We will be liaising with the various local authorities over the coming days and providing updates once decisions have been reached.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult period and stay safe.

EMPTY BUSES

Whilst we would not encourage unnecessary travel under current circumstances, we would like to point out to concerned members of the travelling public especially the elderly that we are only carrying approx 4 passengers per bus per hour, so on a short trip you may well find you are the only passenger and if not, there will be plenty of room to spread out.

Please note that our Concessionary fare reimbursements from the government have been guaranteed regardless of pass numbers, so we have no vested commercial interest in carrying any more of these passengers. We are merely saying this to reassure affected passengers that if travel is essential, social distancing will almost certainly be achievable.

Thank you for your support and understanding at this time.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
