There's been reference to GWR (Great Western Railway) printed publications - leaflets for engineering works, and about things specific to particular areas, in various threads on the forum ... "I picked up a leaflet at Readings and it says ...".  Wouldn't it be useful for such material to be available online?    The structure of the GWR site and its clear and appropriate direction to headline stuff and journey sales and marketing, with some major alerts ahead of time; it would become cluttered with all the stuff about each line being there at the top level. Current case in point, the Heart of Wessex (Castle Cary to Weymouth) is bustituted not only on weekends but also for a whole week coming up - vital stuff for those who may use the line, but hardly relevant to users of the 07:01 from Maidenhead.

So - plan is (with GWR help) for us to carry more of these line specific notices under our individual line boards.  Plans in development and we'll see how often / how much / how many we get, but by having them "per line" with our board structure, it does help filter relevance.

Have you ever searched online for a timetable only to find you're lost in a sea of outdated ones? (One particular bus company - not First - was mentioned to me in this context for being particularly bad.  And there's a tendency for stuff to be put online and left there - indeed it's one of our forum's strengths to be able to look back at complete threads. However, we don't want to encourage people into being mislead by stale engineering posts.   So - the plan is that materials that will expire will be added in a separate folder - which I have just created - called "dated" and search engines will be directed not to index that folder (I have just added that directive too!).   An announcement post of the addition of the material, including keywords and dates on the main line board will still be indexed, so that anyone clicking through to history will have been altered to it being history; the way our boards work will thus bring early exposure and help material be available to all when current, and fade thereafter but still form part of the archive.

First (test) example - Heart of Wessex trains replaced by buses, various dates to 29th March 2020.
Castle Cary, Yeovil Pen Mill, Maiden Newton, Dorchester and Weymouth line.

Just in case anyone had some spare space to store and spare time to read.....

The DCO (Development Consent Order, or Driver Controlled Operation (that is, operation and dispatch of the train solely by the driver even with another member of staff on board), depending on context) for the Portishead line.......

The application for a Development Consent Order for the £116m MetroWest Phase 1 scheme was submitted to the Planning Inspectorate (PINS) by North Somerset Council on Friday 15th November 2019. The final application consists of:

287 documents and 20,735 pages
69 sets of plans/drawings
An Environmental Statement which has 19 chapters and 62 appendices
The Book of Reference which has 2,465 pages
The Consultation report which is 630 pages excluding the appendices.
When printed and stacked the application is around 7ft high!

Great idea !

As mentioned previously I moderate two Bristol City forums, and have good connections with the club, so any information about line closures etc will be really useful as I can pass any relevant information on

Just heard that the Severn Tunnel is closed when we are playing our last away game at Swansea (25th April), funny how many times we play at a Welsh club and the tunnel gets closed the same weekend !
