I have 'attended' the build up events looking at the Exeter and Oxford areas - very interesting / useful in terms of looking ahead and thinking about the sort of way we could / should be going.  Also spoke during the Bristol one. I will be signing up for next Monday.

Online Conference 5th October

Due to government restrictions the live conference with Sir Peter Hendy scheduled for 5th Oct has been postponed to 2021. This online event will describe a vision of a green Build, Build, Build with rail at its heart, and how it can be delivered.

Changed travel patterns and social distancing mean Pullman quality public transport, with the rush hour spread throughout the day, can provide everyone with a service equivalent to today?s 1st Class - but without the expense of operating peak services.

Garden Settlements along rail lines will enable a new kind of lifestyle where active travel and public transport are the norm, giving people easy access to both the country and facilities of a city without having to worry about congestion, parking, pollution and health.

The Planning White Paper is intended to enable the building of more homes, faster. Learn what it says about transport, and achieving decarbonisation.

It's potentially an exhausting day.  Convention seems to be to replace all-day conferences with sessions of perhaps an hour or two (Saturday's annual RailFuture conference has six speakers in 90 minutes) but this one has six hours running time spread out over a nine hour day with twelve speakers.   Knowing how much time it takes up to write up 90 minutes, I may offer brief notes only.
