Intelligence has been received that the 140 bus from Harrow to / from Heathrow Central via Hayes & Harlington station is to be discontinued from December 2018.

* A new limited stop route X140 will run between Harrow Bus Station and Heathrow Airport, Central Bus Station via Hayes & Harlington station. It will run every 12 minutes during Monday to Saturday day times and every 15 minutes during Sundays and all evenings.

* New route 278 will run between Ruislip station and Heathrow Airport, Central Bus Station replacing route 140 between Hayes & Harlington station and Heathrow Airport, Central Bus Station. However, it will run every 15 minutes during Monday to Saturday day times rather than every 12 minutes as this is thought to be sufficient to meet demand. It will run every 20 minutes during Sundays and all evenings.

Nothing has been mooted about the 278 serving stops between Hayes & Harlington station and Harlington Corner on the Bath Road. The alternatives are the 90 and H98 both usually well-packed with locals and grossly over-crowded at peak times.

Sounds like T4L planning without any consultation with the travelling public, par for the course with Crassrail.

I remember seeing this last year. There were yellow A4 posters on all bus stops of the affected routes inviting you to look at the proposals online. My recollection is that the 278 will replace the southern half of the 140 so would stop at all stops between Heathrow and Hayes. Its only the X140 that will be express. There were other bus changes proposed that I can't remember now.
