CrossCountry said a full investigation was now under way. A spokesman for the firm said the problems were likely to last until Monday afternoon. |

A re-railing vehicle, known as a BRUFF, is currently on site.
Signal cabling to points was damaged by the derailment and this was what caused delays to services. The Up and Down relief lines were affected by the damage, reducing capacity for services between Temple Meads and Filton.
Cabling has been fixed but, as at 1200, the relief lines remain out of use under emergency possession whilst attempts are made to re-rail the Voyager.

A spokesman for the firm said the problems were likely to last until Monday afternoon. That report included an acknowledged stock image, which I will not repeat. By coincidence (and a puncture) I walked under Kingsland Road bridge around 9am, and wondered why there was a CrossCountry train there. It was still there at 4pm. |

The Voyager was re-railed at around 5pm this evening, with the relief lines re-opening shortly after.
A nice big delay attribution bill for whoever was responsible.

Whose fault is it that we live in a blame society? In BR▸ days, in the absence of terrorism or obvious third-party intrusion, the fault would have been BR's. Now, we involve a lot of specialists and lawyers, so that we can establish which bucket of cash should be used to pay the compensation and sort out the damage. All of which comes, ultimately, from you and I.
On another point, this is by no means the first time within the last three weeks that train traffic between Temple Meads and the north and Wales has been severely disrupted by a train problem. Four Track, Now!, I say.

Explosion after US train derailment
A commuter train at Chicago O'Hare International Airport has derailed, injuring 32 people, officials say.
The train came off the tracks, crossed a platform and travelled part way up an escalator at one of the busiest airports in the US.
None of the reported injuries are serious.
A spokesman said the train was likely to have been travelling too fast when it crashed in the early hours of Monday.
"I heard a boom and when I got off the train, the train was all the way up the escalator," passenger Denise Adams told the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.
Fire officials told the Chicago Tribune that six people were in fair condition and 26 in good condition as they were transported to hospital.
Investigators are said to be reviewing security footage and interviewing CTA▸ employees to determine the cause of the derailment.

However, as 'Electric train' has already pointed out, we have indeed been trumped by the Americans: their train ... came off the tracks, crossed a platform and travelled part way up an escalator ...
