I always wondered what the 'collective' noun was for a group of trains and concluded after watching this video - initially noted on the fgwdmu group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/fgwdmugroup/ - that it's a celebration of 153s.

My thanks to Crispin Phelps for posting that video link on Facebook and to DRS37412 for putting it on YouTube (I suspect Crispin might be DRS37412).   It truly is a celebration for what the daily availability of one of these does for the TransWilts service. Travelling again on the the 17:36 from Swindon last night and chatting with passengers ... even some of the Swindon -> Chippenham passenger using the 153s in preference to the HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units))!   For some Melksham residents, they are lifechanging!

The 1730 from Swindon is usually standing room only, so I can see the attraction of waiting another 6 minutes and getting a seat, particularly as you can sit on the train whilst waiting to depart.

"dogboxen"

(Ross 'Ancromarty' Hamilton posted back on the Usenet uk.railway group from the 1990s onwards, and I suspect may have been one of the first UK (United Kingdom) rail staff to post publicly on an open-access forum. He worked for Regional Railways Central, and then Central Trains as its successor; he seems to have stopped posting although I did spot him very briefly popping up on railforums.co.uk once.)
