That was two trains from Swindon cancelled.  What they didn't say, but kindly did, was make the 06:40 also stop at Swindon as well as Reading!

Scheduled to stop at Swindon anyway.

When this happens they usually stop at Didcot. Not today...

Directive from on high issued in December is that the 0640 Bristol only calls additionally at Reading now, when the 0630 Bristol is cancelled. Although as 2 consecutive services from Swindon to Didcot were cancelled (0556 Cheltenham & 0630 Bristol), the 0458 Swansea was called additionally at Didcot.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
