As much as making a scuplture that is too big to eat out of an edible material which melts at just over room temperature sounds like a silly idea to me, at least it might be possible to snap off and eat those horrible sideplates*.
* Sideplates is the term I coined because I didn't know what they were for, I think they are what I've since seen refered to as smoke deflectors. Whatever, they are a design feature I associate with
