Hi all

Thought I would post in here but bear with me as its my first post in this forum.

Since August last year I have been using the trains on every weekday to commute to my new place of work in Bristol, I use a foldup bike as I have a 15min ride to get to and from the station in the mornings and evenings plus a short ride to the other side of the city centre in Bristol.

I am an annual ticket holder plying the route for all stations between Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads.

I really like trains and I am a rail enthusiast too and I never thought that I would see the day when I would be able to actually commute to and from a workplace on one. I sometimes spend a few minutes wandering around Temple Meads if I am early for a train as I think its an amazing station from an architectural point of view and there is always something moving about.

I sometimes volunteer on the S&D (Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway) down at Midsomer Norton and used to volunteer on the Ffestiniog in North Wales.

Currently I ride mostly in 150/1s or 150/2s, 158s 156s, with occasional rides in , 153s or HSTs (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)).

As a cyclist even with a foldup bike I tend to find that the 150s are the best for travelling in as there are more fold down seats and lots of standing space. It does get very busy on those Wink  Lips sealed Wink Smiley

EDIT - Finding this site a useful resource = thanks.

I believe that the 150s were designed for the frequent stop / lots of ons and offs traffic - so if you're looking at 4 stations in 20 minutes (Bristol Temple Meads, Keynsham, Oldfield Park, Bath Spa) they're going to be better suited. The the 158s are "regiona" where you want a bit more comfort but can accept a bit slower and more awkward loading.

All in theory - I find my usual train to be a 153!
