BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) Radio Cornwall reporting a young teenage girl fell under a train at Camborne station just before 17h00 yesterday.  Taken by air ambulance to Treliske.  Lower body injuries, but nothing serious it seems. BTP (British Transport Police) advising they are treating as an accident.
A major shock to all involved, including the driver.

I don't think she was actually hit by a train, rather she fell fell between train and platform at Camborne. I don't think the train was given the 'right away'.

I'll look for further detail later when in front of my PC. Unless others out there can corroborate.

Also I'm aware of another incident of a similar nature recently at Bodmin Parkway. That one was worse, resulting in the death of a member of the public. Not seen that one reported at all.

Person fell between the train and the platform whilst it was arriving at the station.
Conflicting accounts of how,
seems she ended up "tumbling" under the train.

Seems very lucky to escape alive....

The other one at Bodmin, seems to be still unreported, perhaps a problem
with informing family or something?

Have a look at the third thread down on this Board, quite a lengthy thread.

What is a 'Key Points' child, and why is it relevant to this event?

Should there be a link with this post?

Apology for not posting link but I thought once I had said where it was it would be easy to find as it so glaringly stands out.   Link is:-

Ahh I see, a link to a topic here. I thought perhaps it would be a link to another forum with more information. Strange that the fatality at Bodmin has had no press coverage. I won't repeat rumours I've heard, except to say the circumstances sounded unusual.

In the interests of clarity, I've revised the heading of this topic from the original wording (which I think was taken from an internet news site's bullet point summary).  Lips sealed

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
