http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/11274642/Rail-fares-hike-from-January-revealed.html

From the article ...

"It is now cheaper for a family of four to fly to Iceland to see Father Christmas - ^224 - than it is for one person to buy an any-time walk on return rail fare from London to Manchester - ^321.

I'm presuming as a comparison has been made that the "fly to Iceland" fare is also a fare you can turn up at the airport and buy at any time?  Grin ;  but I would agree that there are some seriously expensive rail fares around.

A family of 4 can also travel from Westbury, Trowbridge and Melksham to see Father Christmas in Swindon for just ^28 - that's next Sunday at 16:17 from Westbury (earlier train sold out), and that ^28 includes minced pies, soft drinks all around, and travel, and a gift for the children.   http://twcrp.info/santa

Of course he cannot, but he must be able to move very quickly between the two.  How do think he does so many deliveries in one night?

.....let's hope he's not relying on FGW (First Great Western) to get him around then, or Christmas Day will probably be in the middle of March!!!  Grin
