Subject says it all, really ... from Steve Smith at the Bedwyn Train Passenger Group

Quote
We now have a ticket machine and a new shelter (plus a new bicycle shelter for those so inclined). Please allow yourself a little more time to purchase a ticket from the machine. It only takes cards, no cash.

There has been a "revenue protection" issue at Bedwyn for a while as I understand it - not because people won't pay, but because there has been no way to do so.  I think the local trains are driver only operated, so the opportunity to buy on the train wasn't available either most of the time, leaving only the destination for ticket purchase.   Not so much revenue protection against those who want to avoid payment - more revenue protection against those who have been willing to pay but haven't been able?

First Great Western press release

Quote
First Great Western is delighted to announce almost ^40,000 of improvement works at Bedwyn Station have begun.

The work will provide an increase of marked station off street bay car parking, adding 23 off street parking spaces, and improving access to The Knapp.

Wiltshire Council secured Government funding through its Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF (Local Sustainable Transport Fund)) project to create the additional parking spaces as part of a partnership project with First Great Western.

The project has also funded a new cycle shelter and ticket vending machine, installed last August.
