In a case of being right place right time, and a why is Redruth station so crowded with people with cameras at 8:30 on Friday evening being the person I am who carries my camera everywhere I had to get my camera out and see what the fuss was!

20 minutes later the Atlantic Coast Express steamed through and here is my video of it.

I believe it's commemorating 50 years since the Atlantic Coast Express last ran.

Well, an Atlantic Coast Express of sorts still runs. Summer timetable 0906 FGW (First Great Western) from Paddington to Newquay and the 1500 return.

This railtour was indeed to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the last time the Southern Region ran an ACE. Hauled by a trio of locomotives, 34067 Tangmere from London to Exeter over the LSWR (London South Western Railway) route, then 34046 Braunton and 5029 Nunney Castle for the leg into Devon & Cornwall.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.
