It's a few days old now, but Carwyn Jones, the First Minister for Wales, recently made a public and obtuse remark to ATW▸ (Arriva Trains Wales (former Train Operating Company)) on twitter about the lack of Welsh announcements at Cardiff Queen Street and got as good as he gave, although appeared to dislike the flavour of his own medicine...some people are never happy, perhaps ATW should just have switched off the announcements completely rather than offending this sensitive individual?!

He could of tweeted in welsh to get his point across.

At queen street if they did both languages due to frequency you'd probably seen the train arrive depart and the next one arrive before they'd finish the bilingual announcements.

I spent 15 years living in Wales and it is one of my favourite parts of the UK▸ (United Kingdom). I found the Welsh population to be extremely friendly .

But I do remember when the Welsh only version of channel 4 was launched (S4C) because there were complaints from the Welsh population that only a small percentage of the population understood it Smiley

Apparently the domestic aerial  installers made a fortune pointing household aerials back to the Quantocks so homes could pick up C4

That's nearly true. The pointing of aerials across the channel predated S4C by many years. If anything the situation was worse before as the main channels opted out of national programmes to broadcast welsh programming.

In South East Wales they'd likely be pointed at the Mendip transmitter in the, er, Mendips, rather than the Quantocks.

Further west toward Swansea it is possible to pick up a signal from the Huntshaw Cross transmitter near Great Torrington in North Devon.

My house overlooked the Severn estuary and had line of sight to the mendips transmitted so used to get Really good signal. Oh well, back to the topic ...
