Not sure what's been going on at Taplow over the last few days but (as of last night) the station information displays aren't working (since Friday), the ticket office has been closed (Tuesday) and the ticket machine out of service (since Friday).......thankfully the trains are still running! But there were some rather upset people there yesterday morning who were unable to buy tickets.....have I entered the twilight zone Huh

Probably Ted's on holiday and there's no relief staff available, thus CIS (Customer Information System) and cash machine have not been reorted. Hopefull FGW (First Great Western) have picked up your post.

There was someone there this morning (the older Sikh chap who is normally at Maidenhead I think?)  but the information screens were still down, as was the ticket machine - there were no announcements about train running either (although thankfully they seemed to be on time).

If there are no relief staff available I think information/an apology to that effect should be posted at the station and someone should make the effort to ensure that the ticket machine is operational.....I can't imagine it would take long for someone to nip down from elsewhere to do it?  ......then again that would involve Customer Service!

..........we will miss Ted when he retires, it's not the first time his absence has led to inconvenience for all concerned!!!

Got back to Taplow last night about 1800 and the screens, ticket machine & even the permit to travel machine were down.

This morning there seemed to be someone in the ticket office but that was about it - no info (screens or verbal), pretty poor really, almost a week now, if it was Maidenhead or Slough I'm sure it would have been sorted!!!

CIS (Customer Information System) screens were back working as of late Saturday afternoon.

Yes I got back to Taplow about 1830 on Friday and it was all up and running - fail to see why it had to take a week though.

....someone (not me!) has made a comprehensive official complaint to FGW (First Great Western) about all aspects of last week's goings on at Taplow, ranging from staff attitude to the whole issue of nothing seeming to be working all week (ticket/permit to travel machine etc) - apparently the latter was too full of cash to be operational!!!

If I hear any more I will post................in the meantime, thank the Lord that "Taplow Ted" is back in harness!  Smiley

...........new summer timetable, still no Sunday trains for Taplow............this despite the new shopping centre being built as well as a lot of new houses/flats near the station as well as the accursed Car boot sale traffic clogging up the roads every Sunday.

.........will we ever get a Sunday service? Even one every 2 hours would be handy?  Roll Eyes

Iver could do with a Sunday service as well - and that doesn't have the problem of only having two platforms in service and the need to source replacement buses when there's engineering work closing the relief lines.  If I was to have a bet on it, Taplow and Iver (along with Hanwell, West Ealing and Acton Main Line) will get a Sunday service when Crossrail starts and most of the engineering work stops.

Calls at Taplow and Iver would make a two-track timetable (which is necessary on Sunday's for a few years to come) even harder to make work as it would take the stopping trains two more minutes longer, for every extra stop, to get through the section as HSTs (High Speed Train) queue up behind.
