Could it be We will be doing a number of things to celebrate the opening of the Dawlish line and supporting the return of rail services to and from Devon and Cornwall. Mentioned in the news release to discount rumours that Tornado was making an appearance on the Night Riviera. |

My natural cynicism leads me to suspect that that nothing much is planned beyond things already announced.
I suspect that the "greatest investment since Brunel" will consist of the already announced electrification, possibly with slight extensions to the already planned work, and the already announced new trains, perhaps with a few more full length ones. Oh and rebuilding the sea wall at Dawlish.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

The page has been simplified somewhat, I notice, with much of the detail taken out...However, a very prompt response from FGW▸ via Twitter indicates that new services originally listed are going ahead.
