I believe the cash option is to be re-introduced on some TVM (Ticket Vending Machine)'s that are currently card only, keep an eye out CfN.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Mind you, how long did it take FGW (First Great Western) to put a "These machines do not contain cash" on the Ticket Machines at Nailsea & Backwell...?! Roll Eyes Shocked Undecided Lips sealed

They still have not.  Lips sealed

Though there is a notice in the ticket office saying "we don't give change for the car park" even before charging has begun.

An update on the ticket vending machines and customer information screens at Nailsea & Backwell Station at lunchtime today:

Both TVMs (Ticket Vending Machine) were showing 'Out of Service' and both CIS (Customer Information System) were showing 'Welcome to Nailsea & Backwell Station', with no audio announcements.  A poster explained that 'severe disruption was likely, due to weather conditions in Somerset', and guidance should be sought from a member of FGW (First Great Western) staff.

That's a complete fail, then.  Roll Eyes Shocked

Well, it appears one should take a train to Bristol TM(resolve) and purchase or enquire there. Following the directions on the signage should have you covered legally.  Tongue Wink Smiley

An update on the completely contradictory messages being put out by First Great Western on the ticket vending machines at Nailsea & Backwell station:
