Has anyone come across one of these "Christmas Advice Booklets" issued by FGW (First Great Western)?

It includes statements such as "Alcohol consumption can also lead to alighting the train at the wrong stop or being over carried due to falling asleep on the train" and "Hot drinks can help your body to regain lost warmth".

Does a multi-page booklet really need to be printed to tell people the bleeding obvious?  Roll Eyes

I must admit I did chuckle a bit when reading the leaflet while on a sleeper from Penzance to Paddington after being woken up at 3.45am and being told we were terminating at Exeter St David's.  I was sober - but it was the wrong station!

I'm glad you chuckled in that situation!  Grin

Takes a lot to upset me in situations like that - after all it is unlikely to get you to your destination any quicker!

-I have to say I think it's sound advice.........having once got on a train somewhat merry at Kings Cross at about 10pm, and woken up in the sidings at Peterborough 5 hours later, I now try my best to stay awake!  Sad

I too have boarded a late train after a convivial evening and found myself somewhere other than intended. I was aiming for Bristol from Taunton, but was awoken by train cleaners at Birmingham New Street.

It's unlikely a nanny-ish booklet would've prevented my enforced overnight stay in Brum.

I once knew a guy who slept on a Central Line train and woke at the depot at Hainault (not me, I hasten to add). He stayed up playing cards with the staff and made himself quite rich!
