May be too little too late though. Anecdotal evidence on the commuter blog and personal observation suggests that passenger numbers, which fell at several Cotswold Line stations last year, have taken another hit. Would be interesting to know what Chiltern's takings at Bicester North were looking like this week...

As we will probably have to wait a long time for official passenger numbers from the ORR» (Office of Rail and Road formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about), does anyone else have any information on whether the new franchise / timetable / reliability has affected passenger numbers?

Thanks, Mookiemoo.

Graham E has already posted (somewhere...) an estimate of the effect on passenger numbers at Melksham. It will be very interesting to see what happens in Devon with the arrival of the 142, and, conversely, in Hampshire where SWT (South West Trains)'s 158's are now providing a more frequent service than their FGW (First Great Western) predecessors of classes 150 and 153.

Best wishes for Christmas... at least FGW should have a day or two without unplanned cancellations   Grin

Indeed FGW will be operating a perfect service on Tuesday and Wednesday with absolutely no cancellations or short formed services.

There is always the Heathrow Coch Link, they could always cancel that on Boxing Day.
