Tonight, for the second year, Caerphilly hosts the Welsh Proms in the Park as past of the "Last Night" festivities. Must be one of the biggest nights in Caerphilly's calendar. Good to see that Network Rail have helped travel arrangements by rescheduling deferred (from June) engineering work in connection with the Cardiff Area Resignalling to this weekend, resulting in no services on the Rhymney Line all weekend.  Da iawn, Network Rail.

And a few of the services which are running are short formed due to stock being all over the place. Trains from Bridgend via the Vale of glamorgan line were running to Ebbw Vale today which is very unusual.

Anyway perhaps Network rail did try at delaying this work but in the end  had to go ahead as it would delay other work.

Unusual to run from Bridgend to Ebbw Vale but very practical and sensible planning in view of the Engineering work and reduces platform occupation with Platform 4 required for reversal of Barry Island and a number of Valley services due 6/7 out of use.
