Trains were stopped on the Worcester to Hereford line after what police described as "an incident" at Malvern Link station.

West Mercia Police said the incident happened at 18:15 GMT but would not release further details at this stage.

They are appealing for any witnesses either on the station or on the A449 Worcester Road to come forward.

London Midland said that trains were halted while emergency services attended but are now running again.

Arrest made after woman falls from Malvern Link bridge

A woman has been arrested after another woman was seriously injured in a fall from a Worcestershire railway bridge.

The victim fell from the A449 Worcester Road by Malvern Link station at 18:15 GMT on Wednesday.

The injured woman, aged in her 20s, was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Trains were briefly stopped on the Worcester to Hereford line. The arrested woman was taken to Worcester Police Station.

From what I heard from a friend who was on the train last night, the TM^▸ (Train Manager, or possibly Ticket Machine, depending on context) told him that the 2 women were sat on the bridge and the one pushed her off but how true that is I don't know.

Malvern link bridge fall: Attempted murder arrest
A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another woman was seriously injured in a fall from a railway bridge, police have said.

The victim fell from the A449 Worcester Road by Malvern Link station at 18:15 GMT on Wednesday.

The injured woman, aged in her 20s, was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

West Mercia Police said a woman in her 20s remains in custody at Worcester police station.

Police said members of the public pulled the woman who had fallen to safety and looked after her until she was taken by ambulance to hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

'Acting suspiciously'
 
Det Insp Mark Loader said police were in the early stages of what was "already a complex investigation".

He said: "We particularly want to speak to anyone who was at Malvern Link Station at the time, and there were dozens of commuters on the platform, especially one man who was among those who came to the woman's aid and has not yet spoken to the police."

Police also want to hear from anyone who was walking or driving along Worcester Road between 18:00 and 18:15 GMT and saw two women "acting suspiciously on the railway bridge".

Rail services were briefly stopped on the Worcester to Hereford line.

Woman in court over 'assisted attempted suicide' bridge fall


SCENE: The bridge close to Malvern Link station

A woman has been charged with assisting the attempted suicide of another person after another woman was seriously injured after falling from a railway bridge.

The 28-year-old woman is due to appear before Worcester magistrates today.

The victim, who is also in her 20s, remains in a serious condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after falling from the from the railway bridge on the A449 Worcester Road next to Malvern Link station on Wednesday.

Following the incident, a woman from the Malvern area was arrested by West Mercia Police and taken to Worcester Police Station for questioning.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident and want to talk to anyone who was at Malvern Link Railway Station at the relevant time or on Worcester Road and noticed unusual activity on the railway bridge.

Last night, rush-hour commuters were questioned by officers as they conducted anniversary checks at the station in a bid to find out more information.

People on the platform were spoken to as they waited for their trains and passengers were stopped as they left the station after disembarking.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Inspector Mark Loader on the non-emergency number 101 or pass on details anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Bridge fall accused remanded

A woman was remanded in custody by Worcester magistrates today charged with helping someone attempt suicide.

Kate Wiggett was rushed to hospital with serious injuries on Wednesday evening after falling from the A449 Worcester Road bridge over the railway line near Malvern Link railway station.

Victoria Dickinson is charged under the Suicide Act 1961 with intentionally committing an act assisting the attempted suicide of another, namely pushing Miss Wiggett from the bridge.

Dickinson, aged 28, of Marlborough Gardens, Malvern Link, is seven months pregnant and has five children.

An application for bail made by Dickinson's solicitor Barry Newton was refused.

Dickinson was remanded in custody until February 18 next year, although the next hearing could be heard earlier for procedural reasons.

The court heard that Miss Wiggett is currently in an induced coma at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, with a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, and multiple fractures of the spine and pelvis.

A WOMAN who pushed her friend off a railway bridge at Malvern Link railway station has pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

Victoria Dickinson, aged 28, who was seven months pregnant at the time of the offence, had been drinking with Kate Wiggett shortly before she pushed her from the bridge on the evening of November 14, 2012.

I called in at Malvern Link Station on friday good to see things are moving along, the old station buildings are coming down, and work has started on clearing the site for the new access from osbourne road at the rear of the station.
