From FGW▸ site.. I will be interested to know how others interpret this, particularly for Maidenhead passengers...All opinions welcome please :-)
"Important information about late night suburban services between Paddington and Maidenhead
Friday 1 February
From 10 February 2013 Network Rail are carrying out major construction works as part of the Crossrail project to improve services in the area.
As a result of the work, a reduced late night Monday to Thursday service will operate between London Paddington and Maidenhead. The remaining services, running after 21.30, will have extra capacity added where it is available.
Last train times from London Paddington to Acton Main Line, West Ealing and Hanwell stations have also been brought forward to accommodate the works.
James Adeshiyan, Senior Project Interface Manager for First Great Western said:
"This upgrade is vitally important to improve customers' travel experiences for the future. To minimise inconvenience to passengers, the work is being done as late as possible and arrangements have been made for passengers to use TfL» services."
The major works are essential to prepare the route for electrification and the new Crossrail rail link opening for services from 2018.
Arrangements have been made to enable passengers for Acton Main Line, Hanwell and West Ealing to use Transport for London buses via Ealing Broadway, during the hours affected.
Rail tickets to Acton Main Line will also be accepted on London Underground services to North Acton. "

I think it means that there is a new timetable in force from 21:30 Mon Thursday on TV stoppers.
I am pretty sure there are red services in th timetable presumably they are working to those.
They are on the timetables at Taplow and there are also date specific posters with details of the train servcies affected.
What it does mean although not stated is that we poor Burnham and Taplow pasengers will have buses!
But I agree it doesn't actually say that.

It says though "a reduced late night Monday to Thursday service will operate between London Paddington and Maidenhead" which just isn't true.. And if that were true Twyford passengers and Slough passengers should also be told.. I think it's just the way it's written and Maidnhead is singled out (due to crossrail no doubt)

I did spend some time on the NR» site trying to work out which Paddington to Maidenhead trains were affected meanwhile .. I think it is just one that I can obviously see.. the 23.49 doesn't stop at Acton Main line anymore.. but that affects Slough and Twyford also... I am bemused

Presumably it is because the relief lines will be closed between London and Maidenhead, as that's where Crossrail works will be taking place. Services at stations between London and Maidenhead are affected, and some services to Maidenhead have extended journey times Mondays-Thursdays.

Yay.. sounds like Magic then .. I will just get "the train to Twyford" which appears to be running as usual (even though at that time of night it should have gone through Maidenhead) and... since it's Magic.. I will get home a lot faster..... Other than that I feel the FGW▸ info on this belongs in the Pedant post

In a nutshell I think it's "fewer trains after 2130 Mon - Thu but they'll be longer". Not a masterpiece of clarity though

But on NR» planner there are exactly the same amount of trains to Maidenhead as before.. I've now found two trains which run a bit faster to Maidenhead (having been on them) which is the 23.48 (probably as it doesn't stop at Acton MainLine I imagine) and the 22.48 (not sure how this has been speeded up as it only stops at Slough before Maidenhead and still does so).. And inspector_blakey.. If there will be fewer trains to Maidenhead from London.. would there also not be fewer trains to Twyford and Reading? As far as I know there were no trains after 21.30 that terminate at Maidenhead
