Presumably the SAME Jane Jones, who is a member of these forums ? Congratulations.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

There's also a high up secretary at the DfT» (Department for Transport - about) honoured.

I was tempted to add "for services to ironing boards and foreign train makers" but I heard the said person deliver a very perceptive speech on the railways.

There are other rail honours - this and the other thread honour Jane, Matt, Rebekah and Charlotte - all of which are part of our own regional team at GWR (Great Western Railway), and none of whom would have had any anticipation of a decoration if they reached the very top of their career path.
