Man struck by Woking train named
The man who died after being hit by a train at Woking rail station has been identified as a local man.
Abid Zia, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by the London Waterloo to Woking train shortly after 10am on October 1. An inquest into Mr Zia's death has been opened and adjourned. British Transport Police (BTP▸ ) said its officers were preparing a file for the coroner.
A BTP spokesman said: "I can confirm that the man who died at Woking rail station on Monday October 1 has been formally identified as 44-year-old Abid Zia from Woking. BTP officers and South East Coast Ambulance medics were called to the incident, which was reported to BTP at 10.04am. The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious."
