My sources say the incident is being treated as suspicious and lines could be closed for up to three hours (That was a 1052 update)

Network Rail are saying that SOCO are on scene and that a forensic recovery will need to take place. Location of the incident is not Bristol Parkway itself but between there and Westerleigh Jcn, near the old Coalpit Heath station.

Lines remain closed and Police estimate of handing them back is currently 1345.

A woman's body has been found on the railway line near Coalpit Heath having been hit by a train, causing delays on several services.

-The lines are now open, having been re-opened at 12.30pm.

There were delays on trains through Bristol Parkway this morning after a woman was hit by a train near the station.

The woman was hit near Coalpit Heath, between Parkway and Westerleigh.

British Transport Police confirmed that a body was found at Coalpit Heath. Once forensic removal of the body was completed the lines were re-opened at 12.30pm.

A British Transport Police (BTP (British Transport Police)) spokesman said: ^BTP officers attended the railway line at Coalpit Heath, South Gloucestershire after a report of a body on the line.

^The incident was reported to BTP at 9.53am by the driver of a passing train ^ the 08.15hrs London Paddington to Cardiff Central service.

^Officers from Avon & Somerset Police and local paramedics also attended and located the body of a woman with injuries consistent with having been hit by a train.

^The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

^Officers are working to confirm the woman^s identity and inform her family.

^A file will be prepared for the Coroner.^

Some services were diverted via the Severn Tunnel, and a couple of services from London Paddington to Cardiff had to be cancelled.

Missing woman Asta Samuliomene found dead on train track

Police are no longer looking for a 33-year-old woman who went missing from her Bradley Stoke home on Monday.

Asta Samuliomene's family became very concerned for her welfare when she could not be found and appealed for her to come home, safe and well.

But on Tuesday morning the body of a woman was found on a train line in Coalpit Heath and although formal identification has not yet taken place, it is believed to be Miss Samuliomene.

Police spokesman Wayne Baker said: "We are no longer looking for Asta Samuliomene. Formal identification of the body is taking place. The death is being treated as non-suspicious and will be passed to the Avon Coroner. The family of Miss Samuliomene has been informed."

The body was reported to British Transport Police at 9.53am by the driver of the 8:15 London Paddington to Cardiff Central service.

Anyone who saw Miss Samuliomene on Monday should call the police on 101.
