farnborough-brighton rt havant off peak rtns (fam card 2 adults 1 child) 42.30  will get you to worthing as a break in journey is valid and the service stops there.....on an off peak rtn you can complete your journey the next day aslong as you resume your journey before 1200 ... if its after then you will need a single from Worthing to Brighton anytime singles (fam card 2 adults 1 child) 7.90 which would bump the total to 50.20... on the way back you may have to get brighton ticket office to excess the tickets via clapham but this shouldnt cost anything (i cant check from here) the tickets may even be valid both ways amended again i have now been able to check they are valid both ways and the return portion will be valid for 30 days

modified due to validity period on outbound section of off-peak return and following confirmation of validity of returning via clapham

...but if Worthing is beyond Brighton on this route, then surely a ticket Farnborough Group -  Brighton won't get me far enough... please clarify...

it depends which way you go doesnt it  Grin if you go basingstoke-southampton-brighton then you pass threw and stop at worthing  and can have a break there...but if you go via clapham then you are going over distance to get to worthing as you hit brighton first

to be honest im pretty surprised that the tickets valid both ways! but ive checked it on a couple of sites  the way out it threw up via basingstoke and the way back it gave me via clapham, for good measure i even forced each route to check if it was cheaper via a set route but both the same
