From the BTP (British Transport Police) press release:

Quote
CCTV IMAGES RELEASED FOLLOWING THEFT OF PASSENGERS^ LUGGAGE ^ BRISTOL-TROWBRIDGE

British Transport Police (BTP) officers investigating the theft of property from two passengers travelling on a train between Bristol Temple Meads and Trowbridge rail stations are appealing for the public^s help to identify two people they would like to speak to.

Officers have today released CCTV images of a man and woman they believe will have information which can assist their investigation into the incidents.

Detective Constable Steve Eyers, investigating officer, said two passengers had belongings stolen from a train between Bristol Temple Meads and Trowbridge rail stations on Saturday 19 March 2011.

One of the victims was an elderly woman who was travelling to Southampton to go on a cruise. She was unable to go on the cruise as a result of the theft.

DC (Direct Current) Eyers said: ^A 19-year-old woman travelling from Bristol home to Southampton on the 4.23pm Bristol Temple Meads to Portsmouth Harbour service placed her Cath Kitson sports bag in the luggage rack towards the rear of the carriage. She went to collect her luggage when the train arrived at Southampton rail station but discovered it was missing. The bag contained hair straighteners, shoes and clothing. Another passenger travelling on the same train reported that her bag was missing when the train reached Southampton. The 73-year-old woman from Scarborough, was travelling with her husband a cousin to Southampton to embark on a cruise. Her case, which was red with black dots and black piping, contained clothing, jewellery and medication which meant the woman and her companions were unable to go on the cruise as a result of this theft.

^Enquiries are ongoing, and after viewing CCTV from on board the train, we would now like to speak to the man and woman in these photographs as we believe they will have information which can assist us. We believe this couple boarded the train at Bristol Temple Meads railway station and got off at Trowbridge railway station at around 4.55pm. As you can see, the man has a distinctive tattoo on his neck. I would urge anyone who recognises him, or the woman in these photographs, to come forward and contact BTP in confidence.^

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident reference B3/WWA of 05/05/2011, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Ooh, I just spotted the Facebook link that accompanies BTP (British Transport Police) press releases. I'm going to start 'sharing' these articles to get them to a wider audience.
