BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE APPEAL FOR INFORMATION AFTER MEMBER OF RAIL STAFF ASSAULTED ^ BRISTOL/BATH
British Transport Police (BTP) officers investigating an assault on a member of rail staff at Oldfield Park railway station in Bath are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to about the incident.
Officers have today released CCTV▸ images of a man they believe will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident which happened on Wednesday 9 February.
Investigating officer, PC Linda Carey-Harris, said: ^The conductor on board the 0905hrs Bristol Temple Meads to Westbury service was checking tickets when he encountered a male passenger who could not produce a ticket, despite saying he had bought one earlier when he caught a train from Stapleton Road station in Bristol. After a dispute, the passenger bought a ticket from the conductor but when he got off the train at Oldfield Park railway station at about 9.20am, the passenger is alleged to have assaulted and verbally abused the guard. Officers have viewed CCTV from on board the train and we would now like to trace and speak to the man in these photographs about this incident. I would urge anyone who knows his identity to contact BTP straight away.^
