William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

I'm amazed some freight companies haven't gone out of business with some of the delay bills they must rack up at times  Roll Eyes

Im sure they have a lot of minutes in reserve for when they get regulated, which NR» (Network Rail - home page) seem to do alot.

Plus they must have very good DA (District Attorney) clerk's, trying to find that delay at the beginning of the journey to shift all the minutes back to NR.
"Well because you regulated that train 6 mins at XYZ junction, it made our train miss its slot and thus if it was on time, it wouldn't have had to stop and so wouldn't have broken down, blah blah"
