Initial reports state that the accident was related to a train that carries molten iron from one part of the site to another.
ISTR^▸ (I seem to recall/remember), that the very large specialist rail vehicles used for this are the heaviest rail vehicles in regular use in the UK^▸ (United Kingdom).
The locomotives are remotely driven, so as to avoid risking the life of a driver in the event of accident.

Fortunately this dramatic accident was without serious consequences, two men reported as injured and both already released from hospital.

Transporting molten iron in a rail vehicle has always sounded a risky and problematic operation, but does in fact have a good safety record.

Was there an accident years ago also involving the movement of molten metal at the steel works at Scunthorpe which was put down to the ingress of water into the container of the molten metal.

I immediately thought of water ingress.

That explosion looks like a nuclear weapon exploded.  Note it was heard up to 14 miles away!
