Hi guys,

Looking at booking a journey in December after the Winter timetables come into effect on the first direct train to Devon from Paddington (usually the 0818), but it seems this train is not running and the first one I get the option to book is the 0906.

Does this mean the 0818 has been pulled from the Winter timetable, or that FGW (First Great Western)/NR» (Network Rail - home page)'s booking system has not been fully updated with the Winter timetable yet?

Yes, it's gone, in favour of an Exeter service around 0715, which connects into a PLY» (Plymouth - next trains) service.

Hmm... that is a bit of a pain. I always liked that 0818 service, even if it was a bit slow!

Oh and if previous year's threads are anything to go by, it looks like it won't be too long before the winter timetable PDFs are made available on the FGW (First Great Western) site - usually around mid-November.

THere was quite a demand to get into Exeter & Plymouth a lot earlier than currently.

0706 Paddington - Paignton
Calls:
Reading, Newbury, Pewsey, Westbury, Taunton, Exeter St David's, Newton Abbot, Torre, Torquay , Paignton

Returns as the 1106 Paignton - Paddington, running in the path of the 1155 Exeter St David's - Paddington.
