CCTV IMAGES RELEASED FOLLOWING ASSAULT ON MEMBER OF STAFF ^ TRURO/CAMBORNE
British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a couple they would like to speak to in connection with an assault on a member of train staff.
Officers have released CCTV images of a man and a woman whom they believe can help with their enquiries into the incident, which occurred on board the 9.40am First Great Western service from Exeter to Penzance.
PC Wayne Frost, the investigating officer, said that the incident took place on the train just after it left Truro train station on the morning of Saturday, 29 May 2010:
^As the train manager approached the couple to check their tickets, it became apparent neither of them had any. The woman admitted this and asked if she could buy a ticket. At this point, the man she was with became aggressive and agitated, using abusive language towards the train manager and becoming physically threatening.^
When the train arrived at Camborne the couple got off the victim immediately reported the incident to police.
^Members of railway staff should be able to go about their duties without fear of assault. We are appealing for anyone with information that will help us trace the two people in the CCTV images to come forward to assist us with our enquiries.^
