While doing some research for the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership, I stumbled across this picture:



Any suggestions?

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

I'd say it was taken prior to closure, so maybe 1965/66. It was also around that time that the 'double arrow' BR▸ (British Rail(ways)) logo seen in the photo was introduced.

Well done, again: that picture was taken in 1964, we believe!

Apparently, Melksham was one of the very first stations to be rebranded with the 'double arrow' logo.  Oh, the irony!  Smiley
