A woman was rescued and her car pushed off a railway track just moments before an oncoming train passed through.
The vehicle rolled down an embankment and landed on its side after leaving Waltons Hall Road, in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex, at 1130 BST on Sunday.
Two men pushed it onto its wheels so the 21-year-old could escape, while another man helped move it 30 seconds before the Southend-bound train passed.
Police said the woman, who was uninjured, had "a very lucky escape".
The train is believed to have been the 1110 BST c2c service from London Fenchurch Street.
The woman and Essex Police have appealed for the men to get in touch so they can thank them officially.
Pc Allen Burridge said: "The woman had a very lucky escape - thanks to the quick action of the man who helped her get out of the car. We have the name and address of one man but the other two men left the scene without giving their contact details. We want to find the other men so that all three can receive official thanks or a commendation for their prompt action. The woman would also like to pass on her personal thanks to the men."
