Dear First Great Western Coffee Shop members,

This morning we have made some changes to the software running the forum, which will set us up to go on and add other new features.  This should not effect most of our users, except that you'll find yourself here as "guest" and need to login again, even if you had previosly clicked the "remember me" button.

If you have forgotten your password, don't worry.  You can click on the "forgotten password" link and our server will send an email to your currently registered address, which will then allow you to log in again, and continue exactly as before.

On a handful of accounts, the mechanism I've descibed above won't validate users. I know which accounts this will happen on, and I have sent separate emails to the registered email addresses of those accounts - all you need to do is get back on those emails as they ask, and I can validate manually.

When you get back on, you may feel "nothing changed". Good - this is an 'enabling upgrade' which lets us more forwards with new postive and exciting possibilities (but retaining the current too), rather than a sudden and unexpected change from a 125 to a Pendelino at Furze Platt!

Please feel free to follow up with questions / discussions ... and if you are having trouble getting logged back in, please feel free to email me - graham@wellho.net - and I will be happy to assist getting you back on track.

Graham

Yeah .. I had planned the changes for minimum downtime ... then I put the engine back together and left out one of the pistons.  I don't THINK I've any more "pocket screws" left (those are the screws that are left over when you re-assemble something and there are some left over - so they go in your pocket) ... but if I find another on the floor then I would have to knock it off for a further ten minutes

'Morning, Folks ...

The data feed that we scrape for short formed trains / cancellations that we use(d) changed overnight.  Not a huge surprise to me, as people update ("modernise") their web sites from time to time, and other sites that rely on such feeds then need updating.

I have replaced the map (to avoid showing something that's erroneously confusing) with a picture of the scrum for last night's 19:00 Paddington to Bristol ... which also had to take a lot of the traffic from the cancelled 18:30 Weston-super-Mare. Not a comfortable ride as we left London!

Do you have something you would like to add to this thread, or would you like to raise a new question at the Coffee Shop? Please [register] (it is free) if you have not done so before, or login (at the top of this page) if you already have an account - we would love to read what you have to say!

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
