12/07/09
0935 Frome - Bristol Temple Meads
Declared a failure at Freshford, unable to sustain air pressure, and as such brakes stuck on. Air could audibly be heard escaping.
As it to happened, 2 drivers and 2 guards were on board. Plenty of head scratching took place; followed by the arrival on FGW (First Great Western) train fleet travelling fitter.
With the main line shut, the Paddington - Swansea was behind us.
158959 was dispatched from Bristol and ran wrong line Bathampton - Freshford before attaching to the disgraced 150233.
Some 95 minutes late, the 5 car combo makes it way to Bristol where it way terminated.

What a farce for Sunday morning!

As it so happens, my "safe" 61 minute connection at Bristol Temple Meads was clearly not enough  Cheesy

Paddington to Swansea via Westbury, with the Ashes at Sophia Gardens (sorry, can't bring myself to call it the Sw***c Stadium). Wonder how many cricket fans were late, and wonder whether Network Rail took the event into consideration - after all it's only been known for 18 months or so.

I know some of the morning session there was a large number of empty seats - I actually commented on it!

Network rail gave up their possesion early in light of the riot at Freshford! Delay minutes likely in the high hundreds. Kerching!

Shame nobody reported the problem earlier... Roll Eyes

Am I right in thinking because it was a Sunday delay minutes, don't count towards overall performance figures?

Didn't realise that was the case, anyhow, they are still recorded in Trust, perhaps not just recorded on PPM(resolve).

Wrong line 158959 hitching up to a disgraced 150233. Much more comfortable than a 150 in coaches A + B  Grin
