Seems we had a small breakdown earlier this evening.  It appears everything is back up and running again.

Thank you for not adjusting your set....  Grin

Should we see about displaying a video of a potter's wheel during temporary faults?  Tongue Wink Grin

Be better than that doll on the testcard - used to scare me as a child.  The girl was OK though.   Grin

D'oh! So I didn't need to reformat the hard drive and call the BT engineer out, then?

Don't worry FTN. I always naturally assume the problem is at my end as well. I swapped browsers, tried my smarthpone and then hard reset my router, before thinking to ask other forum members via social media whether they were able to connect to the Coffee Shop.

To be honest most computer support people wish people would check their equipment before crying foul.  However it is frustrating when you have done all that and call the helpline and they still tell you to re-install everything!

May I perhaps suggest this excellent web tool that tells you if it's the website that's down or the Coffeeshop: http://www.isup.me/www.firstgreatwestern.info

Instead of doing all that, why not try another website?? Wink Grin Cheesy Tongue

To be fair though, I thought it was just me at first. I was in McDonalds in Trowbridge on the WiFi which doesn't work overly well at the best of times considering the distance from the exchange... Angry So I tried playing a music track on Grooveshark which worked fine. Meaning that something else was the problem. That's when I put www.firstgreatwestern.info into isup.me which told me the Coffeeshop was done Sad Lips sealed

Que an e-mail and tweet off to grahame who (I assume; might have been one of the other admin/mods) brought it back to life Grin

That would have been grahame - thanks, grahame.  Wink

Down for 37 minutes ... checking to see what happened.  Sorry about the outage.   Thanks to those who emailed / texted an alert.

Status page on our other server - http://www.wellho.net/share/status.html - which you may like to bookmark.

Edit to add Looks like my heartbeat script that check and restarts the web server didn't function correctly. It's functioned (and triggered) a number of times over the years, but this time left the server non-operational.

Sorry about the outage.

As outrages go, it wasn't a bad one, Grahame. And don't worry, I didn't really reformat - just my attempt at a joke

Thanks - I'm not worried by the single failure; uptime for February is heading towards 99.9% (which is, almost 0.1% down on January).  I just need to make sure it's not the start of a pattern.   I kinda knew that you wouldn't have reformatted.  Bit concerned at the "Delay Repay" request - don't understand how we can be asked to repay when the site's completely free to users in the first place  Grin.

I'd just like to say that I have not been undertaking any corrections or uploads to the museum website in the period in question.

So, not my fault this time, then... *blushes*
