You're right swrural.  It's amazing that such a non-event should make 'news'.  The real story is that FGW▸ (First Great Western) provided all the pax with the promised ride home despite the problem of drivers' hours.  Hooray for them!  Sometimes it has taken me ten minutes to drive what normally takes 3.  Perhaps I should write to The Times.

(Aside: Radio4 this very day broadcast the first of two programmes on what makes news - very worth a listen if you care!)

Hence my comment immediately below the article! Would be nice to have drivers at all major stations on permanent standby, but 15 minutes at that time of night to get hold of someone, do the paperwork etc. sounds fair enough to me.

This 'story' appears to be user generated content, rather than written by a journalist from the Express & Echo.

The decision by the E&E to post it though is questionable.
