Plans for a new rail service which would make it realistic to commute between England and France have been submitted to the European Commission. Known as the "Transmanche Metro", it would entail setting up a service with trains stopping at Stratford, Ashford, Calais, Cote d'Opale, Lille and possibly Bruges (link below.)
