I've put this breaking news story on this section of the board simply because its going to affect capacity on FGW (First Great Western) services between Bath and Bristol once jobs are transferred to Filton Abbey Wood. FGW are going to need to provide extra capacity in the morning and evening peaks but I doubt the government will be helping out.

Surely a good reason to keep the 7 142s for the rest of the franchise as FGW are going to need all the LM (London Midland - recent franchise) 150s they are getting just to cover increased usage and now this transfer of jobs to Abbey Wood.

Maybe the direct services to Abbey Wood from Bath will be revived. Given this isn't going to happen until 2012 there is plenty of time for the railway to plan, rather than suddenly wonder why their services are swamped in 2012 and bleat that there is no stock to improve capacity.

Ah, but by 2012 the new Defence HQ (HeadQuarters) in Corsham will have been built (the "Corsham 09" project - apparently the 09 now stands for some random September rather than a specific year...), Corsham Station will have reopened, and all the stock will be needed to serve that.

Oh look, there's a pig flying by....
