Almost beyond belief.....again.

Cancellations to services between Reading and Slough

Customer Advice
Apologies to customers, Network Rail advise we have multiple points failures between Reading and Slough in at least 3 different locations. In addition the high speed line from Reading towards London is currently shut.

And the advice from GWR (Great Western Railway) is to use the Elizabeth Line.....which is suspended between Hayes & Reading  Roll Eyes

Whilst it's never great to see the map covered in red lines, at least this weekend (as well as the inevitable staff shortage related cancellations), much of the disruption is due to engineering works, which I am told (amongst other activity) involves installing new rails between Reading and Paddington - hopefully this might help to relieve the virtually daily disruption and meltdowns which have been a feature of this route over the past couple of months?

......but then again.....following the installation of new track....

Cancellations to services between Reading and Newbury

Due to a points failure between Reading and Reading West some lines are blocked. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Train services between Reading and Newbury may be cancelled.

Network Rail staff are working to fix the points. To do this they will have to close the line completely from 21:30 for around 90 minutes.

During this time, we will not be able to run any trains between Reading and Newbury, in either direction. We will have some replacement transport in place, but this will not run to train times. Your journey may take longer to complete.

.....will make for some interesting journeys home tonight.....

Alterations to services between Didcot Parkway and Oxford

Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Didcot Parkway and Oxford all lines are closed.

Train services running through these stations will be delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 20:30 07/04.

Customer Advice
As a result of the emergency services dealing with an incident the line between Didcot Parkway and Oxford has been closed to train movements.

The alternative route for GWR (Great Western Railway) ticket holders to use Chiltern Railways services between London Marylebone and Oxford in both directions is no longer a viable option owing to a train failure on that route.

Radley, unfortunately.

GWR (Great Western Railway) Help advising that there's no bus availability (direct fast service buses are present, take 40 mins DID (Didcot Parkway)-OXF» (Oxford - next trains), serve station), and alternative offering was *serious suggestion* DID-PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-MYB (London (Marylebone)) (free pass) - OXF - takes almost 3 hours unless fast DID-PAD used.

Called out the "assistant" and suggested that they try it out one day.
