Thank you for posting that item, infoman.

I've moved it to this board, only because Congresbury is not a 'heritage railway': it's simply 'history'.

I have also expanded your post by adding the following link:

"Congresbury Station & Reedbed Workparty - Saturday, 23 November·10:00 – 13:00

Volunteers needed to cut back this year's growth, maintain bird boxes and reed bed. Please email congresburystation@outlook.com.

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r/eventedit/copy/MXFoYjByMGNocTBianBlcGg5YzI2NTI1cGMgeWFjd2FnQG0 "

I've also added it to the Coffee Shop forum's diary.

Thanks again for alerting us to this event.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.
