Today (1st July) Swindon's Bus Company have taken over the 40 and 42 services from Stagecoach.

Article on the Swindon Bus website late last Friday - no mention on Stagecoach.

From Monday 1st July, Swindon's Bus Company are pleased to announce we will be taking over operation of Service 42 from Calne to Marlborough via Avebury.

The 42 will run to a very similar timetable as the current one, but there are some changes to routings and timings so please check carefully before you travel.

From this date, Swindon's Bus Company will also take over the running of the Calne Town Service 40, which will be altered to become two routes operating around the town numbered as 40A (anticlockwise) and 40C (clockwise), keeping all the current links to the town centre, but also now linking in the new estate to the east of the town through Prince Charles Drive and Spitfire Road, before continuing to the Tesco Superstore on Oxford Road.

Both of these routes are operated Mondays to Saturdays under contract to Wiltshire Council, with the town route gaining a much-improved later service throughout the day compared to the current timetables.

Initially, both services will mostly be operated by two hired plain white buses but in due course we will introduce brand-new environmentally friendly, low emissions buses in our distinctive green and blue livery, complete with state-of-the-art Next Stop Announcements and displays to help make your journey easier and safer.
