Kulvinder Bassi, Community Rail Team Leader, Department for Transport, is awarded an MBE for services to transport.

I've met him once, at a meeting, and he made a point of offering me his help and assistance: well done, Kulvinder!

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Kul is a really REALLY good friend to Community Rail ... though I have rather lost touch since I moved from the mainstream to the sidewaters of community rail five years ago.  I am delighted to see his picture and a CV on the railings at Filton Abbey Wood when changing trains there a few days ago.

Someone was asking yesterday after Kul. His profile tells me that he's currently "Stations and Accessibility Policy Manager at Department for Transport (DfT» (Department for Transport - about)), United Kingdom". I hope to meet him again some day.
