That looks like the stone blocks that supported the edge rails of a 19th century tramroad, and the location looks very like a site in the South Gloucestershire coalfield that I visited a few years ago.  But I may be completely wrong.

It does, doesn't it? But it isn't. The stone blocks used to support a platform edge.

'Coalfield' is warm though.

I think it would be unhelpful of me to describe this as being 'in the vicinity' of Coalpit Heath. Not too far away though.

It isn't anywhere I recognise, but given the clues, perhaps somewhere along the Westerleigh branch line?

Wrong side of Bristol, Frome froome (bit of a Freudian slip there maybe?)

I momentarily had in mind the Radstock to Frome railway path but the absence of in-situ railway lines makes me question this now.

It is indeed the site of Clutton station. There's a sort of linear park running north from Station Road towards Fry's Bottom (oops sorry Stephen!) which we used as the basis of a nice circular walk via Cuckoo Lane and Greyfield Wood, finishing (appropriately) with a pint of Frome 'The Usual' in the Railway Inn.
