Cancellations to services between Plymouth and Newton Abbot
Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway at Plymouth all lines are blocked. Disruption is expected until 14:15 21/01.
Train services between Plymouth and Newton Abbot will be cancelled or delayed.

1C76 (10:04 Paddington to Penzance)seems to have come to a stand at signal DM234 just outside Ivybridge.

Nothing running out of Plymouth towards Totnes.
Services being turned back at Plymouth, Exeter or Newton Abbot.

Thoughts with all involved.

Sketchy news from Plymouth Live but it does not (yet?) read like other reports we see all too often.  "Near" not "on" the railway, for example.

Quote
Trains in parts of Devon are facing disruption following an incident. It is understood to be affecting the line between Plymouth and Totnes.

The nature of the incident is not yet clear, but it reportedly involves emergency services close to the train line. A tweet from CrossCountry Trains says: "DISRUPTION: Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Totnes and Plymouth, all lines are blocked. Updates: http://journeycheck.com/crosscountry/."

Another update said: "Emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway between Plymouth and Exeter St Davids means trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 45 minutes or cancelled."

It is not yet clear if it is linked to an ongoing protest over restrictions to wild camping on Dartmoor which is taking place at Cornwood. Thousands of people are expected to attend.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that the area is 'gridlocked', and they are looking for a solution to the traffic issues.

Protests at Cornwood - but surely not on the track itself!
Local media have been reporting about the recent news a certain landowner has banned wild camping (via the high court).
Amongst others affected, the Duke of Edinburgh Ten Tors would be hit hard.
Same landowner has also donated to the current sitting MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post (a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London), depending on context) (or so media reporting suggests).

Whilst protests are going on, I would hope no one would be anywhere near running lines.
