The last "foreign" holiday that I took was staying at the Great Dorset Steam Fair for week with an exhibitor. Rather a lot of luggage was involved. Best overalls, second best overalls, and old overalls. ten changes of underwear and shirts. Bedding.

I am in general too old and fat for camping, but this was not "proper" camping though in a field. A very large tent with 5 bedrooms, proper beds, and central heating.
I think that our tent was the only one with a chandelier in the main reception room.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU^▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
